Hiking for our health

Hiking to the rescue!! The struggle in today’s society of convenience foods electronic activities, its sometimes hard to get enough exercise.  And as we get older, we find that simply cutting back on the amount we eat just doesn’t work anymore.  While there are many forms of exercise to help, most require dedicated space in your home or a gym membership and special equipment.  Hiking is good for almost anyone since the only requirement is a decent pair of shoes.  As you build your strength and stamina, you may decided to buy accessories to make your hike more enjoyable, but its not required.

Hiking for fun

We are having to hike a bit more because we are running out of park and grab geocaches.  Planning a two or three hour hike into the wood with my family or friends is becoming common.  We have a great time exploring new places that most people will never see.  Our kids always get a homeschool lesson or three while we are out.  We get to teach some history and/or science lessons to our children on almost every hike.  These are fun lessons that our children would have never gotten if they had been in public school instead of hiking and having fun with us.
