Bacon is good on anything according to my son, Dave. I have always enjoyed breakfast foods pretty much any time of the day, but Dave mainly focuses is love on bacon.
On December 12, 2015, we went to Nashville to place flowers on Laura’s Parent’s grave sites and do some geocaching along the Jack Trail Geotour on the way. This trip didn’t include a lot of entertainment for the children, but they were great knowing this was very important to their mother.
The Trip Begins
We headed out the door at about 10:00 am in the morning and spent about an hour on the road before nearing our first stop. The Dave and Nick had brought along their Nintendos and Shelby and Laura had selected several movies to watch along the way, so they had hardly noticed the time passing.
It is often interesting to listen to the comments about movies from the driver’s seat. At one point, Laura put in the movie “It’s A Wonderful Life” which was in Black and White. As the movie started, one of the boys asked why she had picked and old boring movie. Within a few minutes, he was the most interested in it of all the children.
As we traveled along the Jack Trail Geotour, picked up seven geocaches in Winchester, Tennessee and then another five geocaches in Bedford county. I was wanting to go after a few more, but I had promised I would get Laura to the cemetery before dark. I had to drive past several other caches to make sure I kept my promise.
After visiting the cemetery in Mt. Juliet and placing some flowers, I took Laura by the Joanne Fabrics store. (it would be cruel to be this close and not take her the biggest one in the area.) We decided it would be best to let her go by herself so I seized the opportunity to grab a two more caches in the Providence Shopping Center while we waited, making my total for the day to be twelve.
The children were all very happy to hear that we were finally starting the two-hour trip back south.
A Bacon Treat
I decided that everyone deserved a special treat and stopped in Murfreesboro to have dinner at the local Cracker Barrel. We spent about a half an hour looking around at all of the interest items for sell, we were finally seated at a very large table.
We allowed everyone to pick and place their own order. I don’t remember exactly what everyone ordered but I will never forget what Dave ordered! He had the most expensive meal, the Half Pound Bacon Cheese Burger with a side of steak fries (In case you are wondering, no, he was not able to finish it).
After our meal, we head home very satisfied. When the children were getting ready for bed, Dave said, “Bacon Makes It Worth It All!!” After we stopped laughing we headed off to bed.
