Geocaching has become a huge part of our lives since we first discovered it in 2014. So what is geocaching?
Geocaching – Sport or Hobby?
That is the question that can’t be answered! Most avid geocachers will declare it to be a sport. It does include hiking, boating, rock and tree climbing. So it must be a sport, right?
Not so fast!
This activity also includes puzzles, riddles, mathematics, the use of computers, mobile phones and GPS receivers. Finding many of the geocaches doesn’t require even the smallest amount of exercise. Sounds more like a hobby, now.
Perhaps it isn’t a sport or a hobby at all, but some kind of hybrid of the two. You see, geocaching is what happens when nerds go outdoors!
For Crazy Dave’s Crew, it is a great way to spend time together and with other geocachers exercising and expanding our knowledge and skills, while having a lot of fun.
Geocacher Blogs – Etiquette
The etiquette category is where we will discuss the “how to” parts of the sport. Much of this section will come directly from the actual rules and regulations. Some of the post will be ideas and opinions that have developed over time. We will be clear on what is fact, opinion, or just considered to be good practice.
Geocacher Blogs – Adventures
The adventures category is the place to find great stories about our adventures out in the field. Along the trails, we have enjoyed getting back to nature and getting some great pictures to share with you.
Many of our adventures take us to places we would never have gone if we had not been searching for a geocache. We will take you along on those adventures.
We will tell you about our FTF’s (First to Finds) and our DNF’s(Did Not Finds). You will hopefully learn from some of our mistakes.
